Former Congressman Ron Paul Announces ‘The Ron Paul Channel’

July 12th, 2013

Former Congressman Ron Paul is a true champion of the libertarian cause. His 2008 presidential campaign was the spark that set fire to a growing liberty movement that continues to provoke real change through the hard work of millions of diverse activists to this very day. However, his hopes of becoming president were shattered early on by mainstream media networks that defamed and obscured his historic and legendary campaign with a purposeful coverage blackout.

The good doctor has since retired from politics and is now working to promote liberty on the educational front. First, he announced his own homeschool curriculum, and now, he will be advancing the cause of freedom with the The Ron Paul Channel, a pro-liberty, subscription-based media network, set to launch possibly as soon as August. Check out Ron Paul’s explanation of his new media venture, which he gave during a conversation with Tom Woods on The Peter Schiff Show, in the player below, and let’s talk about it after the jump.

No More Media Blackouts

The media establishment often protects the government by refusing to cover certain types of issues, opposing candidates, third party movements, protests, and other such threats to the status quo. Top media networks don’t want to rock the boat in a way that causes them to lose access to a politician for interviews. As such, the cable news networks have completely abandoned their role as a check-and-balance against political corruption. It’s supposed to be the job of the media to challenge the establishment at every possible turn.

During Ron Paul’s presidential campaigns, he was given few opportunities to present his message. Despite this, each and every time he did, even for seconds at a time, tens of thousands of new people awakened to the cause of liberty. As he pointed out in the above-linked appearance on The Peter Schiff Show, during one debate, he was only given 89 seconds to explain his positions on the issues.

Unhinging the Media’s Natural Anti-Libertarian Bias

Most mainstream media outlets are owned by the same nebulous web of Fed-connected corporations that purchase politicians and guide government policy. Many are war profiteers who benefit financially from state policies. As such, it’s natural for these organizations to slant their coverage towards tyrannical policies that grant the state more power.

Ron Paul’s new media channel will provide a crucial platform for high-profile voices within the liberty movement. News items that otherwise only achieve coverage on alternative media sites will no longer remain hidden from the public. The channel will provide high-quality online content in a new media style.
