Some Liberty in Hollywood

June 9th, 2010

What is one of the most important parts about producing a film? Talent of course! With casting calls for Silver Circle right around the corner I thought we could throw around some famous liberty-minded actors/actresses.

Silver Circle would be obliged to have any of them do voice overs for our film, so if you have those connections…let me know! Seriously, call me.

Clint Eastwood

Almost every freedom lover’s favorite announced his philosophical views in an interview with Playboy Magazine in ’97.

“Libertarian… Everyone leaves everyone else alone.”

Drew Carey

Now Reason Magazine’s new spokesperson, Drew Carey interestingly enough stated in an interview with Reason in ’97 (a year of many libertarians coming out of the closet I guess):

“The less [government] the better. As far as your personal goals are and what you actually want to do with your life, it should never have to do with the government. You should never depend on the government for your retirement, your financial security, for anything. If you do, you’re screwed.”

Vince Vaughn

One quote I found from Vaughn points to his views when asked what the last book he read was:

“The last book I read was the book I’ve been rereading most of my life, The Fountainhead.”

In his most recent debut Vaughn capitalizes on what everyone expects to be bloopers during the credits of Couple’s Retreat. The male roles in the film take on the Federal Reserve in a not so dry (pun intended), yet educational way. Go see the movie. Fast forward through it if you wish (it didn’t get the best response from critics) and enjoy the last scene. Thank you Vince, thank you!

and here’s an actress that loves the ideas of liberty…

Christina Ricci

No she’s not a registered libertarian, but the woman clearly knows about liberty because she has stated:

“My favorite book isThe Fountainhead…I relate to it because of the idea that you’re not a bad person if you don’t love everyone.”

There are many more out there, and we should keep supporting them so they aren’t alienated in the state loving society called Hollywood. Add to the list, share this with a friend!

Here in the Lineplot studios, we are hoping to use our medium of film to produce characters and scenes that represent the philosophies a lot of us believe in. Perhaps we can get an A-list actor on board to help push our message even further than we can fathom at this point?
