Rebel of the Week: The Language of Liberty Institute, Traveling the World for Liberty and so can you!
March 9th, 2011The Language of Liberty Institute has been doing amazing work spreading the libertarian message and entrepreneurship skills around the globe since its emergence from the mind of Glenn Cripe in 2005. Perhaps I’m biased; I am going to Nigeria with them next week to work at the Liberty Entrepreneurship Conference west of Lagos and teach these ideas. I am very excited and will be blogging about my experiences there with the ever-lovely Silver Underground.
Normally there is a component of the seminars which focuses on helping ESL learners to practice their English within the context and discussion of libertarian principles. This isn’t as major a focus this time around because Nigeria is a former British colony where English is an official language. Instead we are able to focus on practical skills and libertarian know-how!
Since Glenn Cripe started doing his thing he has produced 18 seminars around the globe, primarily in developing areas, and has reached over 1000 students! This year he has already held a camp in Armenia and has an event scheduled for Albania in the late summer, amongst others. Needless to say, the Language of Liberty Institute isn’t going to posh conference halls in the countryside of France but actually going to places which need and deserve classical liberal principles desperately. This is not only great for the attendees who are residents of these regions but also excellent for the organization and its donors who are very sincere about making their funding stretch into more and more camps.
The Language of Liberty Institute is currently growing very fast and has many opportunities for people to get involved and attend their camps as instructors and/or help fund such an important mission in the global struggle for liberty. Glenn Cripe and the Language of Liberty Institute fully deserve our weekly rebel status. Investigate their site here and see how you can find a meaningful place at their organization and possibly get to travel with them. In the meantime I’ll be keeping our readers updated on my thoughts regarding the liberty movement that is currently awakening in Sub-Saharan Africa.
