Jack Kevorkian, “Dr. Death”, dies.

June 3rd, 2011

Today, the controversial doctor, Dr. Jack Kevorkian, otherwise known as “Dr. Death”, passed away from natural causes. Dr. Kevorkian was famous for his practice of assisted suicides, where people with life-ending illnesses and degenerative conditions approached him requesting a quicker end to their suffering.

This led to many outcries against him for overstepping his limits as a doctor, and led to his license being revoked by the state of Michigan in 1991, where he practiced medicine, though the courts never upheld the decision. He served 8 years in prison for a supposedly illegal assisted suicide of a man by lethal injection. After his release, he lived a quiet, unrepentant life, while many people thought of him as a murderer and a monster. Think what you may of this man, but he offered people a chance to end the pain and suffering that comes with life-ending degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, and even though his methods seemed cold, they were done with the consent of the patients and their families.

He was 83 years old.
