Movie Monday: Is Making Money Inherently Corruptive in Comics?
September 26th, 2011According to this in-depth analysis of comic book villains and heroes, by Julian Sanchez, it is. In an attempt to dissect the comic book characters we grew to love as younger beings, Sanchez points out that most heroes inherited wealth with little to no experience in gaining it…however the villains who are savvy business men/women pulling in profits are just down right evil
Sanchez lists a few examples of villain CEO’s:
- Lex Luthor
- Wilson Fisk (Kingpin)
- Adrian Veidt (Ozymandias)
- Norman Osborn (Green Goblin)
- Bruce Wayne (yea, a hero, BUT different characteristics than most heroes)
Keep reading his cleverly assembled article. It may have you wondering: What kind of conditioning is actually happening here?
