Bipartisan Means Bifascist

November 29th, 2011

According to various news sources, legislation in the U.S. Senate that would obliterate the ragged tatters that are all that’s left of the Bill of Rights may be voted on as soon as 48 hours from this writing.

Called the “National Defense Authorization Act”, its proponents brag that it would legally define the whole country as a “battlefield” on which the military would be allowed to seize individuals without anything resembling due process of law mandated by the Constitution, incarcerate them “indefinitely” and — although this part isn’t mentioned — torture them, as has already been done to captured foreigners.

No objective criteria for this kind of unlawful treatment are offered by the bill, leaving such trivial details to the “discretion” of the bitter enemies of individual liberty who have crawled out of the woodwork in increasing numbers since the events of September 11, 2001.

With over 70 sponsors in the Senate, praised and promoted by the likes of Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and John McCain (R-Az), the bill — so bad that it’s been rejected (albeit for all of the wrong reasons) by Robert Mueller, head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation — demonstrates once again that, where freedom matters, there isn’t a plastic bus token’s worth of difference between what are falsely advertised to the American public as two separate political parties.

The bill’s smaller handful of opponents, including Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Mark Udall (D-Co.) — not to overlook a coalition of Japanese Americans disturbed by its resemblance to the mockery of law that rendered them or their parents or grandparents to American concentration camps during World War II — is equally diverse, but regrettably determined to battle it only with half-measures, trying to amend bits and pieces of it into something nearly Constitutionally acceptable, when the sternest, most radical action is what’s called for.

The proof of that lies in another act of vandalism against the Bill of Rights being carried out by the Bipartisan Man himself, Joseph Lieberman (listed as an Independent from Connecticut) who, emboldened by the current disregard in Washington for traditional American liberties is attempting to jawbone Google into censoring what he calls “terrorist” Internet content. Apparently defining “terrorism” would be left, for the nonce, to Google itself, which demonstrated clearly, years ago in China, that its commitment to the universal human right of free speech is as rock-solid and unbending as a pot of overcooked spaghetti.

Under the massively bipartisan “National Defense Authorization Act”, I could be kidnapped by the military and “disappeared” for writing this, and you could be kidnapped and “disappeared” for reading it. Anyone who thinks the Republicans are going to save us all from the collectivist excesses of the Democrats next November has, as my grandmother used to put it, “another think coming”. What we’re seeing on our TV screens today are the many heads of a serpentine monster I have long called the “Boot On Your Neck” party. The rapid rise of the most fascistic politico in America today — in the formal, technical, Mussolinoid sense — Newt Gingrich, and the nearly complete media blackout of veteran freedom fighter Dr. Ron Paul, ought to convince anyone.

So what do we do? Well, to begin with, there is a general election coming and we now have more than the multi-headed Boot On Your Neck party in the game. Support your local “third” party candidates, and let your local Republicans and Democrats know what you’re doing and why.

Tell everybody you talk to that there’s a provision under the 14th Amendment that makes rebellion against the Constitution a crime, with a punishment (look it up) that should turn any politician’s hair snow white.

Everywhere you go — websites, blogs, FaceBook, radio shows, even the barber shop — make reference to the penalty clause I’ve proposed for those who violate the highest law of the land, the Bill of Rights.

“Any official, appointed or elected, at any level of government, who attempts, through legislative act or other means, to nullify, evade, or avoid the provisions of the first ten amendments to this Constitution, or of the Thirteenth Amendment, shall be summarily removed from office, and, upon conviction, deprived of all pay and benefits including pension, and sentenced to imprisonment for life.”

Remind them that we have a perfectly good federal prison going to waste on Alcatraz Island in lovely shark-infested San Francisco Bay. And remind them, as well, that America has a Nuremberg, too, in Pennsylvania.

Will that take more courage than you think you possess? I’ve been doing it nearly five decades, and believe me, I’m no more courageous than you are. But it’s either that or let this evil scum reduce you from a human being to some kind of bug, and then try to hide under a rock.
