Movie Monday: Other Film Festival Opportunities Around the Corner
January 30th, 2012The news we were anxiously awaiting finally came last Friday. South by Southwest Film Festival contacted us with the news that Silver Circle would not be playing this year at their show. We were really hoping the news had gone the other way. We will still be promoting the film during the festival. Be sure to visit us at booth 638! We’ll have some awesome stuff going down during the Interactive Trade Show.
We are not discouraged with the results. South by Southwest could have been an amazing opportunity, and our genre and style is exactly what they are looking for in a film. We have to be honest with ourselves as filmmakers though. We weren’t prepared yet. The cut of the film we submitted contained a few too many holes in the animation to create 100% confidence in the DVD we sent out. We know the story is fantastic and the animation is impressive…we just need a tad bit more time after our recent setback.
The good news is, SXSW isn’t the end-all in film festival opportunities. Now that we’ve put together our talented, in-house animation team, we’ve got our hands tightly on the reins and the creativity is flowing through the roof!
We have our eyes set on two other top-tier film festivals later this year. One of which is Telluride Film Festival in Telluride, CO. The final festival of the year we’re hoping to make it to is Toronto’s International Film Fest…yea that’s right, we’re going international! Two other festivals we are also hoping to participate in: the liberty themed, Anthem Film Festival & Boston Comic Convention’s first film fest. We are hoping the larger fests’ regulations will not prohibit us from participating in the latter two.
So don’t let the bad news from SXSW get you down, followers! We are taking the time from now until the upcoming festival deadlines to finish the film, add some amazing effects, and polish it up for the big screen. We’ll have an updated trailer coming out this summer so keep an eye out!
