Austin, TX: “The Most Libertarian City in the US”

Politico argued that Austin, TX might be one of the most libertarian cities in the US. Much like my own home city of Nashville, TN, Austin is a socially liberal, arts-and-culture city in a southern red state. Texas trends pro gun and pro economic freedom by nature, and Austin’s strong counterculture calls for a more lenient social environment.

Austin has one of the most effective Libertarian Party organizations, with over 31 candidates running in a single election in recent years. Significant numbers of Ron Paul for President donors came from the area as well. Libertarian candidates have been known to get as much as 40% of the vote in races in Austin.

Austin Is Packed with Noteworthy Activists

Austin, TX is a hotbed for attention-getting liberty activists of all stripes. Alex Jones built his media empire by broadcasting from Austin over short wave radio. West Point grad, former Army officer, and war veteran Antonio Buehler is active on police accountability in the area with his organization Peaceful Streets Project. National Republican Liberty Caucus Chair Dave Nalle resides locally.

Leaders like Katie Brewer have been influential in guiding advocacy organizations like . Ryan Lambert is fighting for the buying power of Texans via Texas Sound Money. John Bush is keeping the community informed with his news service. Austin is home to multiple bookstores like Brave New Books that specialize in edgy political works. There are so many people working hard for freedom in Austin that it would be impossible to recognize everyone in this blog alone.

If you’re an Austin resident looking to get plugged into one of the most powerful liberty movements in America, join us at tonight’s Silver Circle premiere! Many hard-working activists will be in attendance to support sound money and independent cinema. There will be a social event afterward featuring a Q&A with special guests involved in the film and key local activists. Help us spread the word about the dangers of an out-of-control Federal Reserve through a film that has been endorsed as crucial for the advancement of liberty by former Texas Congressman Ron Paul.
