Scholastic Rebellion: Ron Paul and Ex-Cheerleader Judy Davis Fight the Establishment

February 20th, 2013

Each week, we issue a Rebel of the Week award to individuals that engage in righteous acts of peaceful rebellion against injustice and tyranny. This week, a dual award is being issued to recognize anti-establishment action in the realm of education. After all, children are the future, and government-run schools are deteriorating into mock prisons and laboratories for the social engineering of impressionable minds, rather than institutions of learning and critical thinking.

In a piece called From Cheerleader to Enemy of the State on Dissident Voice, Judy Davis describes how she lost her job as a teacher because she informed her students about the well-documented blowback that occurs when the CIA trains and arms repressive regimes in developing nations. CIA experts themselves have noted that these actions inspire angry locals to take up arms against the United States.

Ron Paul is also set to challenge the educational establishment in his upcoming book, New School Manifesto. The text aims to redefine learning in America by incorporating free market principles. Let’s take a closer look at these extraordinary acts of defiance in the name of education after the jump.

Ex-Teacher Judy Davis Described as “Recalcitrant” by School Board Panel

When Judy Davis taught her students about blowback, some of them experienced cognitive dissonance and became angry. Complaints were made to school administrators. Davis was given the opportunity to apologize before the class in order to keep her job. However, the statements she made in class were true. If she were to apologize for stating something so factually certain, it would send a false message to her students. If anything, she should be given an award for refusing to lie to children.

She was evaluated by a school board panel and fired for refusing to back down from her beliefs, which happen to be confirmed by former and current US Congressmen, Senators, and the CIA intelligence officer charged with hunting Bin Laden throughout the ’90s. It seems like teachers should be allowed to teach well-documented facts that pertain to lessons in class.

Ron Paul’s New Book and Talk Radio Show

Politico is reporting that Ron Paul plans to publish New School Manifesto on September 17th. This book will champion home schooling and free market principles in education. In an era when more and more educational resources are available online, traditional learning institutions risk becoming obsolete. However, compulsory educational standards trap students in a one-size-fits-all educational system that primarily consists of outdated techniques like the memorization of facts that anyone can easily access in a few seconds on their smartphone.

Ron Paul’s book will offer a path forward to a new paradigm in education. Additionally, he is launching a new talk radio program called Ron Paul’s America. This show will provide daily commentary on the latest political issues.

As our educational system struggles to keep up with changes in technology, Ron Paul’s book will lay out a blueprint for a better future for children in America. By sticking to her guns and losing her job in order to equip her students with the truth, Judy Davis exemplified the role of a caring, thoughtful educator. As such, these two outstanding individuals are the recipients of this week’s Rebel of the Week awards.
