Avatar from Down Under?

Looks like James Cameron is going to kill two birds with one stone.  Except these birds are 36,000 feet beneath the ocean’s surface.

For the 50th anniversary of the last attempt to dive into the Challenger’s Deep, X Prize Foundation will be awarding $10 million dollars to the next sub to attempt the dive twice.  Well, James Cameron is up for the challenge and will also attempt to shoot some future scenes for the sequel of Avatar while he is down there.  All sorts of efficient, eh?

Only two men have ever attempted the dive in the past.  Cameron has contracted Australian engineers to build the sub that will be taking the plunge.  Refer to this illustration for the plan, because let’s face it, this is pretty hard to imagine:
