Rebel(s) of the Week: Comic Geeks!
October 20th, 2010Geek being used in the most complimentary way possible…
Silver Circle has had the opportunity to attend 3 different Comic Conventions:
1.
2.
3.
We have yet to find a more rebellious crowd. The attitudes of most of the attendees, aside from the undying love for games and illustrated stories, spouts a contemptuous demeanor toward authority. We have discovered through accidental social experiments that the comic crowd is begging for the message within Silver Circle, it’s a change of pace in their story lines and also hits home to a lot of their unnamed philosophies.
They enjoy going against norms and getting outside of the mainstream social culture. Many are aspiring artists and talented creators who know how the market works in this lucrative but tough business.
They understand that their art and recreation can not and should not be censored. Some comic strips themselves have tackled the Net Neutrality issue. You can find a consistent unidentified ideology throughout the majority of the comic conventions we have attended: don’t tell me what to do, don’t touch my art, and I’m different. All of these characteristics at the core represent real Rebels.
