If You Can’t Join ‘Em, Beat ‘Em
July 19th, 2011The “Anonymous” group has been excluded from the latest craze, Google +. As expected this group of rebellious no-names have decided to start their own social network “where there is no fear of censorship, of blackout, nor of holding back.”
AnonPlus is the name and freedom of expression is their game. They are upset about the control and silly rules of the mainstream, so they are putting themselves to work to create an online community where anarcho-web communities can exist. I hate to be a critic of such a heartfelt underground movement, since that’s kind of what we promote around here…BUT their AnonPlus holding page is hard to take seriously. We are missing commas, have some serious misspellings, and no social network.
I’ll give them another week to get this stuff up and running, or at least run the spell check on their machine.
There was another attempt of creating a social network that was free of privacy issues. Have yet to see it blow up. The creators raised over $200,000 on Kickstarter (the goal was $10,000) to start up Diasapora, the decentralized version of Facebook. How hard will it be to get people away from Facebook…even for something as huge as Google +?
AnonPlus has a long way to go, and with their participants getting raided on by the FBI, I think they are going to need some extra support…ANNNND a proofreader. :/
