Rebel of the Week: Kevin Innes
July 6th, 2011I think this week’s Rebel Award goes without saying. We released the exclusive interview with Kevin last Friday and since then have received a ton of response on how he’s an inspiration to the liberty movement. I couldn’t agree more. Kevin Innes got involved with the Liberty Dollar project along side Bernard Von Nothaus in a plan to do nothing but create a business of voluntary exchange based on demand. Kevin’s specific location was North Carolina where he began his sales of Liberty Dollars, by first approaching the authorities in the area to ensure he would not later be harassed for taking part in this “controversial” industry. The cops and even a CIA official in the area gave him the green light.
After distributing Liberty Dollars and other precious metals the company sold, the Federal Government released that certain pieces of alternative currency were no longer legal and could be punishable by a $500 fine. Listen to the whole story from Kevin Innes himself here:
One major thing I took away from the interview was, although he doesn’t consider himself a “Rebel” per say, Kevin exudes an attitude that I would crown as rebellious. His calming voice when explaining such a traumatic part of his life came as such a surprise to me. After being detained for 23 months then released without charges, I would be furious with the government and what they had done to me. He rationally approaches his circumstances and does not let the petty games, the state feels the need to play, get the best of him. His actions and demeanor is the way all Rebels should take on the trying times ahead.
Kevin has been out of the maximum security prison in NC for about 7 weeks now. Show support for this Rebel by sharing his story and encouraging others to continue the fight for our liberties, while also remaining peaceful. Kevin, thank you for inspiring us and Rebels to come.
