Long Overdue – Rebel of the Week: Muse’s Grammy Performance

August 31st, 2011

Thanks to our recent rock start guest, Jon Schaffer, I was pointed towards this incredible Grammy night performance by Muse. You’ll have to forgive me because I’m not one who watches much TV let alone the many award shows that are broadcasted every week. I get it, I’m wayyyy late, but I have no problem honoring a Rebel for the past work where honoring is due.

Earlier this year Muse rocked the stage with a revolutionary performance of their song “Uprising”, which states that “they will not forces us…they will not control us…and we will be victorious.” The stage had 100-ft high screens set up that showcased pictures of banksters, riots, and Prince Charles & Camilla being protested against. At the very beginning of the performance the screen to the sides are taken up by Gadsten flags pronouncing the famous words “Don’t Tread on Me.”

Even Glen Beck congratulated their performance, even though he was asked not to endorse the band in 2009 by the band, themselves (LOL). He commented on the way England sees freedom vs. the United States but nonetheless came out as a firm supporter of their stellar Grammy performance.

As I watched the video, I experienced chills when I watched the digitized bank tumble to the ground and the money on the screen burn up into the thin air it came from. Around the stage are riot police beating down on the protestors while the band rocks harder than ever. The crowd throws their fists in the air as the room fills with a sense of power, power over the powers that be.
