Oak Hill, FL Police Department Wiped Out
August 2nd, 2011If you’re a cop that pisses off your mayor, they might not just get rid of you, they might get rid of your whole department.
That was what happened in Oak Hill, Florida, where multiple incidents of “odd behavior” and questionable police practices, have led to the entire force being sacked, a move that shocked residents of the town, as well as the police officers. This comes after recent quarrels with the mayor, Mary Lee Cook, which have included one officer being accused of stealing gas, and was suspended over it (he was cleared after there was no evidence of wrongdoing), as well as another officer taking pictures of marijuana plants placed in the mayor’s backyard (they weren’t hers).
Until further notice, the Volusia County Sheriff’s department will handle police coverage of the town, which according to the mayor will cost the same as the police department did.
