Ron Paul Can Get You a Gallon of Gas for a Dime
September 9th, 2011Nothing tickles my heart more than seeing something voluntarily exchanged with silver and Zoe Taylor, our movie’s heroine, can appreciate it too. Wednesday night’s debate left silver investors and enthusiasts smiling from ear to ear after Congressman Ron Paul told the audience that he could do much better than the $2.00 gas Bachmann was promising during her Presidency…he said he could get the American people a gallon of gas for a dime.
Pre-1964 dimes were made out of 90% silver and 10% copper. That means with silver prices today, you’d have a little over $3.00. Ron Paul isn’t suggesting that we would lower the price of gas to a dime (which is what several people were probably thinking), what he meant was restoring some intrinsic value to the currency in the US. Our money is now made out of cheap metal and paper with a base of nothing but confidence, history, and debt. What built the confidence in the US dollar today has a lot to do with where money started…with something real to back it up.
