Comic Artist Takes Advantage of Donald Trump's Moment in the Spotlight

May 12th, 2011

Jerome Madia, a freelance comic artist and writer, has stepped into the ring with something a lot of comic readers are saying is “pollution to the comic world”. A comic book featuring the birth certificate-thumping, bad hair, arrogant SOB…Donald Trump.

This isn’t the first time Madia has taken a dominant figure in the news and storyboarded their dramatic moments. During the boom of Facebook and its blockbuster hit “The Social Network”, Madia’s bio-styled comic of Zuckerberg was influenced by similar sources as the film. And while producing the comic Madia admitted that:

“The more I learned about Zuckerberg, the more I became intrigued by him.”

I wonder how nauseating this is for loyal comic readers? Madia seems to think that appealing to a mainstream crowd will bring in more people to the comic community, which in turn generates more revenue and makes room for other projects. He, however, said he won’t have hurt feelings if the same people who read the Donald Trump comic avoid his other more niche works.

“I don’t need hysterical upper middle-class mothers on my letters pages complaining that the Joker is part of the pro-gay rights agenda.”
