Rebel of the Week: Deep Sea Diver in Search of Bin Laden

June 15th, 2011

I can’t help but hand the Rebel of the Week award to professional diver, Bill Warren, for taking the plunge in the hunt for Osama Bin Laden’s body in the Arabian Sea.  Part of me doesn’t want to know if the body is actually there or not, but part of me thinks the CIA and Administration owe a more detailed explanation to the people. Many have grown skeptical of his actual death because the Administration refused to release photo evidence, unlike Saddam Hussein’s death in 2006 (which was done by his own government, but still we knew he actually was killed). As morbid as the subject matter, this story won’t rest until this country is content with the outcome [enter Bill Warren].

Bill Warren is reportedly spending almost $250,000 on this trip to India where he will rent a boat AND a remote submarine out to the Arabian Sea. He’s taken on over a hundred successful deep sea diving missions and feels confident about this one, even though it’ll be like “finding a needle in a haystack”. His motive? Well as he was quoted:

“I’m doing it because I am a patriotic American who wants to know the truth,” he told The New York Post. “I do it for the world.”

So the Rebel of the Week is seeking the truth and taking it to extreme levels; his rebellious acts will land him a spot in history. That’s the attitude we are looking for when searching for our Rebel of the Week nominees. Our Rebels go against the grain, and Bill Warren has proven his habits do the same. Happy swimming Bill!
