V Weeks of V: Rebel Poetry Contest

March 22nd, 2012

Here at the Silver Underground it seems we have a surplus of Guy Fawkes masks. Five masks to be exact. So, every week for the next five weeks we’re going to hold a different contest and give out the masks as prizes. If you want to protest in style stay tuned because there’s going to be plenty of opportunity to win the mask that has become the favorite of Tea Party, Occupy and Anonymous alike. For starters we’re going to extend the Make Me A Rebel offer and open it up. Send us your Rebel stories and you’ll still get your own custom Rebel Avatar, but now we’ll also be giving a mask to the best story at the end of five weeks. So every submission gets a custom avatar, but only the best one wins a mask. And, who knows, if you tell a good enough story maybe you’ll be awarded the Rebel of the Week. So, tell us what makes you a Rebel.

Here are the details for the V Contest this week.

Rebel Poetry Contest

Write your own version of the “November Fifth” rhyme, or write a rant where everything begins with V (Here’s a tip. The Fed Chairman in the Silver Circle Movie is named “Victor”). Your entry can be as short as a haiku or as long as a Viking Edda. To enter you can post a photo of your poem written on a notebook (like Wes), or just put it in the comments section below. You can post on  or drop us . This contest is wide open, so be creative. We’ll announce the winner next Thursday when we launch the next contest.

About the Author: Davi Barker

In grade school Davi refused to recite the pledge of allegiance because he didn't understand what it meant. He was ordered to do as he was told. In college he spent hours scouring through the congressional record trying to understand this strange machine. That's where he discovered Dr. Ron Paul. In 2007 he joined the End The Fed movement and found a political home with the libertarians. The Declaration of Independence claims that the government derives its power “from the consent of the governed." He does not consent.
