The Voluntaryist Comic Campaign Ends November 17th
November 15th, 2012We’re always on the look out for fellow travelers and the Voluntaryist comic series is definately that. A young man is bombarded by cosmic radiation giving him extraordinary powers, and the strength he needs to rescue his parents from government agents. The “Voluntaryist” is superhero who strikes back against a government that seeks to enslave mankind once and for all.
If you want news and updates about the comic as it develops, including a lot of backstory, check out Volcomic.com. But if you want to take the cause into your own hands, and contribute to the comic project, they are offering some some exciting perks for donating to the campaign.
The comic was created by spandex enthusiast, Jaime Sherman to promote the values of non-aggression and voluntaryism. When most people see the upside down “A” symbol they see a “V” for “Voluntaryism” and an “A” for “Anarchism” but Jaime says it’s also the mathematical logic symbol “∀” which means “for all” because Volutaryism is a philosophy which seeks equal rights and equal freedom “for all” without special categories for authoritarians.
He is currently running a campaign to raise funds for the production of the comic and you can contribute until Saturday, November 17th at 11:59PM PT. Right now, he’s very nearly three quarters of the way to his $4,000 goal. Eventually the comic will be released for free, but contributors have an opportunity to purchase the early release as well as numerous other perks. These include $15 for the comic in .pdf format, $50 for a limited edition re-print of the original character sketch, signed and numbered by Jaime, or $500 to actually be featured as a character in the comic. Check out the full list of perks here. But hurry up because time is running out.

I’m seeing more and more specifically liberty themed comics. Some of them are web comics. Some of them are trade paperbacks, and some, like Silver Circle, are full blown animated films. I want to see them all succeed. Who knows, maybe in time we’ll be able to offer our own liberty comic label, complete with action figures and cosplay, that will rival the mainstream publishing houses.
