Not so fast Randall Bergeron!

Over at some site called Redif Blog a user named Randall Bergeron is offering a high quality download of the Silver Circle Movie. There’s just one problem. We haven’t uploaded it anywhere. We’re close, but not that close. The weirdest thing is the description of the film. In the first line he writes ”They still have midnight showings where audience members dress the parts and act out the movie,” but that’s a line pulled from a description of the Rocky Horror Picture show I wrote a few weeks ago. It looks like he just pulled some random sentences from our blog and strung them together like William S Burroughs. But we got to the bottom of this scam.

A consumer watchdog site called Pissed Consumer wrote that Redif is run by thieves. An anonymous user wrote in their review:

“I tried to pay for a 1.99 trial offer and after I checked out they showed me that I was billed 54.64 ! Do not attempt to purchase software or services from this site ever ! They are thieves and crooks and should be in jail ! I sent an emergency financial email to the customer care center. I received no response. I had to file an affidavit with my bank to get the money back.”

Well I’m glad the user got their money back, but it goes to show you, there are scammers out there taking advantage of the internet’s free download culture. I suppose it’s flattering that they thought we were good bait for their marks, but I promise we’ll let you know the instant the movie is available. The best thing you can do is , , and .

About the Author: Davi Barker

In grade school Davi refused to recite the pledge of allegiance because he didn't understand what it meant. He was ordered to do as he was told. In college he spent hours scouring through the congressional record trying to understand this strange machine. That's where he discovered Dr. Ron Paul. In 2007 he joined the End The Fed movement and found a political home with the libertarians. The Declaration of Independence claims that the government derives its power “from the consent of the governed." He does not consent.
