“WAKE UP! Bit Coin is an Alien Invasion!”

June 11th, 2013

This week I received the most delicious piece a conspiracy ranting from an anonymous source. I just don’t think I can improve it in the slightest, even if I corrected the spelling. So I’m just going to republish it faithfully.

Nationwide DNA Collection Checkpoints Begin in Alabama

June 11th, 2013

In the US, civil libertarians serve an important role by keeping a watchful eye on government policies that could come into conflict with our constitutional traditions. The Daily Caller is reporting on a wacky new program, initiated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in cooperation with the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, that does exactly that, and activists across the state are deeply concerned.

Over the past weekend, off-duty Alabama police officers set up DNA and blood collection roadblocks in the counties of St Clair and Bibb. Though motorists were not required to give blood or DNA against their consent, they were offered money in exchange for these biological samples. A St Clair County Sheriff’s Department official indicated that the screenings are going to take place in 60 locations nationwide. Allegedly, the samples are only being taken as a part of a study on impaired driving, though it’s not clear how DNA would be useful for that at all. It seems more likely that this is yet another covert attempt by the federal government to fish for the private medical data of citizens in an effort to build a comprehensive list of Americans based on DNA.

Real Economic Data: Unemployment 22%, Inflation 9.3%, GDP Dropping

June 10th, 2013

The TV talking heads and government bureaucrats ramble incessantly about the rosy recovery Americans have allegedly been experiencing since the crash of 2007. In the real world, however, household wages have dropped for years on end, while prices have surged. Some months, more Americans sign up for disability than join the workforce. At this rate, the recovery will take another century before economic activity reaches 2007 levels again.

Meanwhile, the US Treasury is running out of cash. Also, according to ShadowStats.com, economist John Williams’ site which recalculates economic data (according to the way it used to be counted before the government changed the methodology in an attempt to hide the depth of the crisis), real unemployment is at 22%, inflation is around 9.3%, and the US gross domestic product is moving backwards. To make matters worse, as Peter Schiff points out in the below video, the Federal Reserve now admits that its own deposits are at risk.

The Economics of Recess

June 10th, 2013

It’s a bit of a blast from the past but you’ve got to check out this old episode of Disney’s Recess. The series followed six fourth graders, T.J. Detweiler, Ashley Spinelli, Vince LaSalle, Gretchen Grundler, Mikey Blumberg and Gus Griswald. Think of it like The Breakfast Club for elementary school.

Episode 23A was titled “The Economics of Recess.” The school is seized by a Monster Sticker craze, and the students begin using stickers as currency. T.J. starts with nothing but through hard work and investments, he becomes the richest kid in school and goes mad with power. It chalked full of bogus economic theory, and contains all the standard tropes of proletariat propaganda, but for an economics geek like me, it’s just delicious.

Dvd’s Will be Sold at PorcFest – ONLY 100 COPIES AVAILABLE

June 10th, 2013

This year at PorcFest the Silver Circle Crew will be selling the VERY FIRST DVD copies of the movie (extras and bonus features included)! Only the week of PorcFest will you be able to get your hands on a copy until the official release kicks off later this summer. The exclusive DVD comes autographed by Director, Pasha Roberts, a bonus music video with Jon Schaffer of Iced Earth and some fun bloopers we created along the way.

“I’m so excited to offer the first run of DVD’s to our friends at PorcFest. They have been the heart and soul of our core audience.” – Pasha

The DVD will be sold at the Silver Circle vendor space (#19) starting Tuesday, while supplies last. For $20 you can take home your own copy of Silver Circle to share with your local meet-up group, your family, or pick up a few copies for upcoming holiday gifts! The DVD will not be available anywhere else until later this summer, so this opportunity can’t be missed.

About Silver Circle:

It’s 2019. The dollar is dead. The Federal Reserve brutally clings to the power it has gathered for more than a hundred years. Zoe Taylor stands in their way, with a cunning plan, a scrappy group of Rebels, an insider’s help, and a competing currency made of pure silver. Do she and the Rebels have what it takes to destroy the tyrannical Fed?

The Silver Circle Crew has worked hard over the past three years to deliver this movie to the liberty movement and beyond. Please consider buying a copy at PorcFest X – help us raise money to work on a secondary project. For those of you who would like to see the film at PorcFest, we’ll be screening on Wednesday night at 10:30pm in the media room. $10 to enter (we do accept BitCoin and silver bullion!)

Can’t wait to reunite with our favorite quill-full friends. Come by and see all the awesome stuff going on at our table, but most importantly – pick up a DVD and bring it home!

Woody Harrelson, the Anarchist

June 7th, 2013

In an interview with Details, film star Woody Harrelson was asked his views on politics. He is known for speaking out on a wide range of issues such as foreign policy and the legalization of marijuana. In fact, he challenged the sensibility of the War on Drugs many years before it became mainstream to do so.

Though he has always held cutting-edge views, he took things a step further in the Details interview by coming out as an anarchist. When asked if he had any interest in getting involved in politics, Harrelson said, “I don’t believe in politics. I’m an anarchist, I guess you could say. I think people could be just fine looking after themselves.” Watch a clip from Cheers below in which Harrelson’s character Woody runs for office, and let’s dig deeper into his interest in a voluntary society after the jump.

AMC CEO, Josh Sapan envisions a Stateless free market society

June 7th, 2013

Comic creator, Robert Kirkman describes The Walking Dead as “the zombie movie that never ends” and “the sequel to virtually every zombie movie ever made.” Even as AMC gears up for the fourth season, the comic continues, passing the 100 issue milestone. There is story enough for 10 more seasons, and it seems AMC CEO, Josh Sapan agrees. He recently told the audience at the Barclays Global Technology, Media and Telecommunications Conference that he sees no end in sight for the show. But he added something more, suggesting that the post-apocalyptic world of The Walked Dead will lead to, “a complete free enterprise world in which there are no nations.”

New York Bill Would Allow Police to Jail People Who Annoy Them

June 6th, 2013

No citizen has a right to commit acts of aggression and violence against a police officer or anyone else, for that matter. Also, most people find it mainstream for a legislature to assess a criminal penalty against someone for resisting a lawful arrest. However, there are also sometimes situations in which “resisting arrest” and “assault on an officer” charges are abused by corrupt cops.

According to WIVB, the New York State Assembly is considering a dangerous, clumsily-worded new bill that would give police too much power to arbitrarily imprison individuals who are not necessarily guilty of any crime. The bill, labeled S2402, makes it a criminal offense for any individual to “harass, annoy, threaten, or alarm” anyone he or she “reasonably should know to be a police officer” while making physical contact. Those found guilty would face a four-year prison term. Threatening a police officer is already against the law. Let’s discuss the massive loopholes in the bill’s language after the jump.

Peaceful Streets’ Antonio Buehler confronts Austin PD

June 5th, 2013

West Point grad, former Army officer, and war veteran Antonio Buehler is a rock star of a police accountability activist in Austin, Texas. To these ends he founded the Peaceful Streets Project.

It’s a few weeks old now, but I came across this video of him confronting Austin PD during a routine traffic stop that belongs in the all time best police accountability videos.
