Something fishy about Alex Jones Piers Morgan clash

January 8th, 2013

The “We The People” page on WhiteHouse.gov made headlines after all 50 states had petitions to peacefully secede from the Union. Counter petitions appeared calling to deport those who had signed the secession petitions. Since then the “service” has been used as a kind of macho-flash by disgruntled “citizens.” For example 13,000 people signed a petition asking the White House to build a Death Star.

One petition has caused a chain reaction bringing CNN prime-time host Piers Morgan and InfoWars host Alex Jones into a verbal death match. Alex Jones spearheaded a petition to “Deport British Citizen Piers Morgan for attacking the 2nd Amendment” and it got 104,000 signatures. But there’s something fishy about this interview.

Knowing what I do of Alex Jones’ politics, I think this was a little tongue in cheek. I don’t believe he literally wanted the State to forcefully deport Piers Morgan. He was trying to make a point, and Morgan responded in a very gentlemanly manner, by inviting Jones on his show to discuss the issue of gun control. But the colliding of these two volatile personalities proved explosive.

The 15 minute interview is available on YouTube in two parts.

Jones begins in moderate tones asserting, “The Second Amendment isn’t there for duck hunting. It’s there to protect us from tyrannical government.” But if you know Jones at all you know the volume spiked before long. Within minutes he was waving FBI Statistics and yelling, “1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms!”

This is familiar behavior from Jones. It’s why we love him. He’s a like a bulldog. He bites down and just will not let go.  But Morgan’s behavior was suspiciously out of character.

I’m no fan of Piers Morgan, but I am a fan of many of the firearms enthusiasts he’s had on his show, so I know he’s a loudmouthed blow hard who can hold his own against someone interrupting him and raising their voice. I’ve seen him interview Ron Paul, Jesse Ventura, and Ted Nugent about gun control and always he meets their volume. And with the exception of Ron Paul’s statesmanly demeanor those guys aren’t much softer than Jones. In fact, if you watch Morgan debate Larry Pratt on gun control, he shouts Pratt down. He even trots out the same 35 UK gun murder stat he pulls on Jones.

But against Jones he’s utterly calm. He doesn’t interrupt. He doesn’t raise his voice. He just repeats in a demure passive aggressive tone “calm down, let’s have a proper debate here” and “please try to answer my questions.” Why the change? Well I have a theory.

Jones called Morgan, “a hatchet man of the New World Order.” It was went by fast, but it was there. Well what if Jones is correct? In the political context the term “hatchet man” traces to the Watergate scandal and refers to something like a toady. It’s a trusted ideological subordinate who typically has no institutional connection, but can be called upon to do the dirty work of destroying a political opponent.

What if what we’ve just seen is a public character assassination? Alex Jones doesn’t get on mainstream media that often, but the producers of the show must have known if they gave him a platform and provoked him that he would enter one of his signature tirades. Then Morgan just sits back and lets Jones rant. Morgan wasn’t cowed, he was calculated.

The primary reason I think this is the case is the last question Morgan asked. I know enough about hard breaks to know in the last minute of an interview it’s time to cut to most important point you want to make. It’s time to satisfy your reason from having on the guest on. Well in this case the question was, “Let me get inside your brain… who do you believe was behind 9/11?”

What on Earth does that have to do with Sandy Hook or gun control? And when in the entire history of 9/11 Truth have you ever heard a mainstream commentator initiate the conversation? Mainstream media avoids the subject like leprosy, but now they inject it randomly at the end of a segment.

With just one minute left, the trap was set. Not even Jones can summarize all the evidence in one minute, but neither could he pass up the opportunity to try. No. This was a calculated move by Piers Morgan’s handlers to use Alex Jones to discredit firearms enthusiasts and the liberty movement more broadly.

About the Author: Davi Barker

In grade school Davi refused to recite the pledge of allegiance because he didn't understand what it meant. He was ordered to do as he was told. In college he spent hours scouring through the congressional record trying to understand this strange machine. That's where he discovered Dr. Ron Paul. In 2007 he joined the End The Fed movement and found a political home with the libertarians. The Declaration of Independence claims that the government derives its power “from the consent of the governed." He does not consent.
